STATION 06 – THE DEATH OF CONSUL FLAMINIUS

Battling at the centre of the field, side-by-side with the best among his men, rushing to assist his troops where most in need: the consul, for all his heroism, was soon recognized by a Gaul from Insubria. The soldier rode on horseback. His name was Ducario and fresh in his mind was the violence unleashed by the same Gaius Flaminius against his people.
Ducario spurred his horse onwards, approached, knocked down Flaminius’ shield-bearer and, finally, struck the consul himself, with his spear.
