CHURCH OF SAN SALVATORE

The Church of San Salvatore, with its Romanic floor plan, dates back to the twelfth century. Its lovely stone portal is decorated with reliefs of animals and flowers. High up on the façade is the relief of a human bust, which some have identified as the emperor Frederick Barbarossa. The church has a single nave with transept, and a semicircular apse.
